THE ART: These original watercolor and gouache paper gilcee prints tell this story of resilience and diversity by reimaging the keffiyeh pattern in a multitude of colors and shapes.This is a limited run print series. Each edition is provided with a certificate of authenticity with edition number. Unframed prints are sized at 6" x 8" (15cm x 20cm). Framed white prints are sized at 8.3" x 11.7" (21cm x 30cm) including the frame.

THE STORY: Made during the war in Gaza, I made this limited run series of prints to grieve as a Palestinian-American. The keffiyeh is a symbol of Palestinian values. It is the elevation of the humble garment of the rural farmer, bedouin, and fisherman into a national symbol- recognizing the contribution of the common man. The lines forming nets represent the catch of the fishermen working for thousands of years on the Sea of Galilee and Mediterranean Sea. The bold black lines represent the trade routes that welcome the diversity of ethnicities, religions, and cultures that are part of Palestine. The wavy lines are the olive trees as a symbol of peace but also of perseverance and strength due to their long life.
